Spring diary.
Spring is such a beautiful time of year here in Freshwater Creek. As the winter frost fades and leaves start to appear on the trees, It amazes us every year how vibrant and green everything becomes. The farm feels very much alive in spring with all of our new little baby farm animals finding their feet.
Here’s a diary documenting Spring 2018 at
Freshwater Creek Cottages.
OCTOBER 21st 2018
“Great day catching up in the garden today. Had a little help from our residents ducks. Poor ole snails came out of the garden when the rain came only to be met by hungry ducks!”
OCTOBER 20th 2018
“Another lovely drop of rain over night, and a glorious rainbow to signal the sun is on its way. Clearing up to be a beautiful weekend.”
OCTOBER 19th 2018
“Garden is looking lovely and refreshed after 38mls of rain in the past two days. So so grateful. Such a welcome boost to everything. Spring is such a promising time on the farm, and with a lovely drop of rain like that, my optimism is at an all time high!!”
OCTOBER 18th 2018
“Just over 30mls of much needed rain in the past 48 hours. Such a welcomed relief to a dry Winter. We have two large paddocks sowed for months now with little growth, this will really help power things along!! “
OCTOBER 14th 2018
“Update on the triplets. All three are still alive, and with intervention they are doing well. There is one that is half the size of the other two, we have named her Lu Lu. Whilst we are leaving her with her mum and siblings throughout the day, we are bottle feeding her and bringing her in at night. She is too weak to compete for a teat. Another one has her two front hoofs turned in and is finding it hard to walk. We have given her little top ups of formula, because once again, she is struggling to keep up with mum. She is a good size. The last little guy is a trooper. He is up and drinking all the time and wanting to run and play already. They really are such a delight to be around.”
OCTOBER 7th 2018
“Well hello world! Look what just arrived.... gorgeous triplet lambs. Born in the glorious afternoon sun, just as car loads of guests arrived for their weekend stay.”
OCTOBER 7th 2018
“Evening light sending a golden glow on everything. Sunrise and sunsets are just so beautiful during Spring.”
OCTOBER 4th 2018
“Spring blossoms and blue skies. Spring is such a promising time on the farm. We are all hoping and praying for rain and plenty of bees to pollinate our fruit orchard. Tough times ahead if we don’t get rain soon....”
September 27th 2018
“Driveway trees putting on a lovely display. New Spring growth with green grass and blue skies makes for a great picture.”
September 23rd 2018
“Good morning world. 9 little piggies were welcomed into the world on the farm yesterday. Miss Sally timed the birth perfectly for the start of the school holidays. More due any day now, so lots of excitement on the farm.”
September 7th 2018
“Happy to report that this little boy born yesterday is doing well. Stella is being a great mum and her little boy is enjoying meeting all the other calves. He has a real spring in his step this morning and is trying to show the others he can run and play also. Overload of cuteness in the paddocks for this weekends guests arriving today.”
September 1st 2018
“What a beautiful first day of Spring. We have so much wattle and banksia in bloom at the moment around the farm. Everywhere you look there is pops of yellow framing your view over the paddocks..”
